The Importance Of Recreation And Leisure For People On The Autism Spectrum

What activities are on your summer schedule?
Bowling, swimming, festivals, aquarium, museums, state parks, restaurant night, rock climbing, picnicking, theatre plays, camping, movie-going, and nature trails are a few on our family list. We select activities that are fun, educational, social skills enhancing and raises one's self-awareness. Everyone gets a vote on their favorite activity. We have to try every selection, at least once that summer. Before school resumes, we tally up the top 3 fans!

Autism Beacon shares this is a good idea:
"There are so many emotional, communication and social benefits to rec/leisure activities for people on the Autism Spectrum, as Stephanie Ekis, SLP, points out."
